Technology can allow students to present and organise information in a variety of forms inspiring creative learning
What is creative learning?
'Any learning that gives students more control over their learning processes, inviting them to construct and invent their own learning' (Watkins, 2007).
So how will technology support creative learning in our classroom?
There are many web tools that can be used to support student's creative learning but for our class we will be using Storybird. Storybird allows students to make and create online storybooks. Students are inspired by themes or they can choose their own topic. Storybird can assist students to include abstract thoughts and emotions easily into their stories. By creating their own stories they become co-investigators of their own learning. They eagerly engage in the observing, listening, discussing, reading, and writing of their own stories. Storybird is a form of hands on learning and we all know that we learn by doing. Storybird not only promotes creativity, but also literacy skills. When using web tools like this, the students' own interest and questions ignite the learning process. The Youtube clip below, is a story created by a year 3/4 student using the web tool, Storybird.
